Dalam dunia industri, manufaktur maupun fabrikasi banyak memproduksi pressure vessel yang sebagian pengelasannya menggunakan pengelasan overlay.. Di PT.Boma Bisma Indra nozzle berdiameter 14-24 inch pada pressure vessel menggunakan proses overlay yaitu pelapisan carbon steel SA516 Gr70 dengan dua jenis elektroda stainless steel E309-16 dan E316L-16. Dilakukan pengelasan overlay untuk mencegah terjadinya korosi dan sebagai pengganti material stainless steel dan clading. Akan tetapi ketahanan korosi pada pengelasan overlay tersebut sering terjadi pitting corrosion dengan waktu yang cepat. Untuk memperpanjang masa ketahanan pitting corrosion maka diperlukan solution treatment dengan tujuan memperpanjang ketahanan korosi. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan 3 variasi solution treatment setelah pengelasan yaitu pendinginan temperatur ruangan, menaikkan temperatur sampai 1050°C kemudian pendinginan media pendingin air dan oli. Kemudian dilakukan pengambilan foto mikro, pengujian kekerasan dan pengujian polarisasi linier (sel tiga elektroda). Hasil dari penelitian ini menjelaskan bahwa solution treatment temperatur 1050°C media pendingin air mengakibatkan terjadi kenaikakn kekerasan dan kepekaan terhadap ketahanan pitting corrosion. Penelitiaan ini nantinya akan bermanfaat bagi industri terutama bagi PT.Boma Bisma Indra. Kata kunci : Carbon steel SA516 Gr70, Solution treatment, Overlay, Pitting Corrosion. In the industrial world, manufacturing or fabrication of many producing pressure vessel that partially overlay welding using welding. PT.Boma Bisma Indra in the 14-24 inch diameter nozzle to the pressure vessel using that overlay coating process SA516 Gr70 carbon steel with two types of stainless steel electrode E309-16 and E316L-16. Overlay welding is done to prevent corrosion and as a replacement for stainless steel material and clading. But the corrosion resistance of the weld overlay, often pitting corrosion with a fast time. To extend the pitting corrosion resistance is needed solution treatment with the aim of extending the corrosion resistance. In this research, three variations of solution treatment after welding is cooling the room temperature, raise the temperature to 1050 ° C and then cooling the cooling media water and oil. Then do the photo shoot micro hardness testing and testing of linear polarization (three-electrode cell). The results of this study explains that the solution treatment temperature of 1050 ° C resulted in a water cooler occurred increase violence and sensitivity to pitting corrosion resistance.
