Abstract

The Steam Above Ground System (SAGS) pipeline at Patuha Geothermal Power Plant Unit 1 (55 MW) transports dry steam from Wellpad 05 to Wellpads 03, 03A, and 03B. During operation, the pipeline is susceptible to deterioration mechanisms such as thinning, (SSC), and external damage, which may lead to leak- age or pipeline failure. This study aims to evaluate the pipeline risk level and de- termine an optimal inspection strategy using the (RBI) methodology based on API 581, supported by hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) dispersion modeling using ALOHA soft- ware. The pipeline was divided into 41 segments through dynamic segmentation, followed by damage mechanism identification, (PoF) and (CoF) assessments, and risk ranking using the API 581 risk matrix. The results indicate that all segments have a PoF of approximately 3.07 × 10⁻⁶ failures/year, classified as Category 1, while the CoF falls into Category E, resulting in a Medium Risk (1E) classification for all segments. Based on these findings, inspection is recommended in accord- ance with API 570 at ten-year intervals following the 2025 inspection, with the next inspection scheduled for 2036. The integration of RBI and ALOHA provides a com- prehensive basis for maintaining the integrity, reliability, and operational safety of geothermal steam pipelines
