Abstract

ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan analisa kinerja cooling tower (CT) tipe LBC 25 pada PT. Bitumen Plant Gesik apakah masih layak untuk digunakan proses pendingan mesin pembuatan drum atau tidak. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode statistik deskriptif yang berhubungan dengan performa cooling tower LBC 25 di PT. Bitumen Plant Gresik. Penilitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui performa cooling tower. Untuk mengetahui performa cooling tower tersebut dilakukan berbagai perhitungan seperti perhitungan range, approach, efektivitas dan laju nilai kehilangan penguapan. Dari hasil perhitungan didapatkan kinerja yang paling optimal berada pada jam 08.00 WIB sebesar 30,5 0 C dan pada jam 12.00 WIB temperatur air keluar cooling tower mencapai 32,49 0 C. Efektivitas cooling tower LBC 25 pada jam 08.00 WIB mencapai 37,18 % sedangkan pada jam 12.00 WIB efektivitas kerja cooling tower menurun sampai 29,15 %. Akibatnya cooling tower kehilangan penguapan sebesar 0,062 (m 3 /jam) pada jam 08.00 WIB dan pada jam 12.00 WIB mencapai 0,070 (m 3 /jam). Kinerja cooling tower dapat ditingkatkan dengan cara membangun peneduh pada cooling tower dan meningkatkan laju aliran massa air. Sehingga kinerja cooling tower LBC 25 dapat bekerja secara optimal. Kata Kunci : Cooling Tower (range, approach, dan efektifitas). ABSTRACT An analysis of cooling tower LBC 25 type has been conducted in PT. Bitumen Plant Gresik to know the eligibility of drum making machine for cooling system. Research methode used descriptive statistic related to the performance of cooling tower LBC 25 in PT. Bitumen Plant Gresik. This research aims to determine the performance of cooling tower. To determine the performance of the cooling tower to do various calculations such as the range, approach, effectiviness and rate of evaporation loss value. The Result of the most effective performance is at 08.00 on 30,5 0 C and at 12.00 on 32,49 0 C . The efficiency of cooling tower LBC 25 at 08.00 reached 37,18 % and at 12.00 decreased into 29,15 %. Thus, cooling tower lost its evaporation to 0,062 (m 3 /jam) at 08.00 and 0,70 (m 3 /jam) at 12.00. The performance of cooling tower can be improved by building a shelter on cooling tower and increasing the water mass stream speed so that it can perform effectively.
