Abstract

Kata kunci: personal characteristic, job stress, self-perceived fatigue, safety climate, safety culture, safety behavior, One Way Anova, Structural Equation Model (SEM) ABSTRACT Safety is the important issue in construction industries and become the most dangerous industry especially in the developing country. Shipbuilding industry is one of complex construction activity and have the same risk with the other construction industries. Accident data obtained between 2012 and 2015 shows that temporary workers as a contributor to the greatest number of accidents with basic cause is negligence and poor safety behavior. Low safety behavior is influenced by various factors. This study aims to determine the relationship of personal characteristic, job stress, self-perceived fatigue, safety climate, safety culture and safety behavior and to investigate differences in the average value of safety behavior by age, working period, and educational factors. The development model of the relationship between safety behavior by Structural Equation Model (SEM) with 20 AMOS software was used to analyze how the relationship between variables in multivariate techniques and methods One Way ANOVA to test for differences in the behavior of the average value of the safety behavior. The survey was conducted using questionnaires Likert scale of 1-4 to 142 workers while the construction of ships in Surabaya, PT. PAL Indonesia. Results of the research showed that there is a positive relationship between personal characteristic with safety behavior, safety culture with safety behavior, safety climate with safety behavior, personal characteristic with safety culture, personal characteristic with safety climate, job stress with self-perceived fatigue, and safety culture with safety climate. This study also provides information that the personal characteristic as the dominant factor in influencing the behavior of safety and there are no differences in average values of safety behaviors by age, tenure, and education because it has sign value greater than 0.05 and F arithmetic <F table Keywords : personal characteristic, job stress, self-perceived fatigue, safety climate, safety culture, safety behavior, One Way Anova, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM)
