Abstract

ABSTRACT Fly ash is a hazardous waste which produced from coal as fuel-fired for boiler heating at PT. XYZ. Storage is provided for fly ash in large quantities with an open state is not safe for the environment. According to the government regulations number 101 of 2014, fly ash is classified into toxic and hazardous wastes by second category, so it needs to be managed and utilized for the environmental and health aspect in the company. This study aimed to analyze the effect of fly ash hazardous waste as a cement substitute material and pulp as a substitute for sand material to aspects of the compressive strength and density of lightweight concrete. Analyzing the best composition and analyze the results of the TCLP test. The research was conducted on the material test, trial FAS, calculations mix design, manufacture lightweight concrete, curing, capping, compressive strength testing, measurement of density, TCLP test. Fly ash is used as a cement substitute material with a percentage of 0%, 5%, 10%, and 15% using the DOE (Department of Environment). Concrete testing done within 7 and 28 days with 24 pieces of lightweight concrete. Based on the results of normal concrete compressive strength test of 28 days obtained a value of 11.66 MPa for normal concrete with compressive strength of 10 Mpa plan. Testing the overall density of lightweight concrete meets the criteria for the value obtained is still below on 1850 kg / m3. The composition compressive strength of the fly ash by 5%, 10% and 15% with each 30% pulp at 28 days was 7.6 Mpa, 8 Mpa and 8.9 Mpa. So the best result of composition is 15% of fly ash and 30% of pulp with optimum compressive strength value. TCLP test of lightweight concrete claims that all of the lightweight concrete are safe for the environment in accordance with Annexes IV PP 101 2014. Keywords: lightweight concrete, capping, curing, fly ash, TCLP.
