Abstract

Kata Kunci :Kantilever, Pilar, dan Korean Register ABSTRACT Engine room is one of the compartements on the ships. There is deck opening namely “engine casing”, house deck, superstructure, and equipment ship’s propulsion such as main engine, auxiliary engine, tanks, pipes and other. Therefore, the constructions of the engine room must be strong to support the loads and big forces. Deck opening must be able to support the great loads. Therefore, it is necessary the web is a large-sized namely “cantilever” or additional strengthener namely “pillar”. In this final project will be analyzed comparing the efficiency use pillars and cantilever construction. Comparison reviewed from several aspects such as heavy construction, space efficiency and price of steel. Before do the analysis, you need to know the size of the pillars and cantilevered construction required on the vessel Pioneer 2000 GT. Size pillars and cantilevers in this final project are calculated based on rule the Korean Register. The results of comparative analysis obtained pillar construction is lighter with weight gain 13.49 ton than the cantilever construction with weight gain 20,32 tons. For space on the second deck, pillar construction more large than the cantilever construction. While the space on the first deck cantilever construction more large than the pillars construction. However, the pillars have function other than as a force that is as medium / place of engine installation systems and fire extinguisher tube. For prices, pillar construction is cheaper with price increases Rp. 78.242 million, than using the cantilever construction with price increases Rp. 117.856 million. So from these results concluded that more efficient use of pillar construction. Keywords: cantilever, Pilar, and Korean Register
