Abstract

Abstract In the process of grinding the cane to get water from the sugar cane juice itself used a mill roll which types of materials used are gray cast iron class 3 FC 20, This material chosen because it has a high resistance to abrasion. And is usually done to make the process of repair welding method previously conducted drilling in advance at the crack tip is useful to cut the rate of crack. Welding process in PT. Boma Bisma Indra performed by SMAW welding process that uses electrodes CIN-2 and E6010 will be but the result of welding electrodes CIN-2 is often found crack in areas Fusion line and HAZ, it is inversely proportional to using E6010 electrode. In a study to analyze the causes of failure of the repair process is done several tests including chemical composition test, test radiography, metallography test, hardness test and tensile test. After welding process and test data obtained can be used as support in making WPS order in welding can then be used as a reference. After testing it is known that the weld is best to use a welding electrode CIN-1, because of the radiographic results are just the tip of porosity in the weld area, on metallography test structure formed on the metal weld area there are existing structures in nodular cast iron which has the form of spherical graphite, the tensile test was also obtained the highest results and fractures in the base metal, and for testing the hardness value is still fulfilling than the maximum value allowed only in areas HAZ value is slightly above criteria. Key word: Cast iron, Crack, Metallography, Tensile, Hardness, Grafit, Fusion Line.
