ABSTRAK Selama ini penentuan block belum ada dasarnya hanya mengandalkan pengalaman semata. Didalam latar belakang ini perlu dilakukan perhitungan berapa jumlah block yang optimal untuk dimensi kapal yang berbeda berdasarkan safety factor yang ditentukan untuk kapal tertentu. Dilakukan penentuan dasar dengan variasi beban-beban dengan software solidwork untuk mengetahui yield strength maka dilakukan hubungan grafik antara beban yang dialami oleh material dan hasil yield strength. Setelah itu ditentukan safety factor yang diinginkan maka dihasilkan hubungan yield strength dengan safety factor. Kemudian hasil yield strength dari safety factor tersebut maka didapatkan beban maksimal yang diterima oleh material. Selanjutnya diketahui displacement kapal dari hasil perhitungan dengan rumus pendekatan. Setelah diketahui displacement kapal, maka didapatkan hasil jumlah block dengan safety factor tertentu. Dari hasil analisa tersebut jenis material ini memiliki hubungan tegangan maksimal dengan safety factor tertentu, maka besarnya safety factor 1 mampu menerima beban sebesar 17,5 ton, dengan safety factor 1,5 mampu menerima beban sebesar 11,5 ton, dengan safety factor 2 mampu menerima beban sebesar 8,5 ton, dengan safety factor 2,5 mampu menerima beban sebesar 6,7 ton, dan yang terakhir dengan safety factor 3 mampu menerima beban sebesar 5,6 ton.
