Abstract

ABSTRAK Pelapisan cat adalah lapisan proteksi yang melindungi suatu permukaan logam dari akses lingkungannya dengan cara membentuk lapisan tipis diatas permukaan logam tersebut. Ada berbagai merek cat dengan spesifikasi yang berbedadan nilai kekuatan setiap merek cat berbeda. Supaya didapatkan hasil pengecatan yang baik dibutuhkan merek cat dengan kualitas terbaik. Adapun metodologi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dilakukan proses sandblasting sebelum dilakukan proses pengecatan. Setelah proses pengecatan selesai dilakukan pengujian pull-off test untuk mengetahui daya rekat pada kedua merek cat marine. Hasil uji kekuatan yang didapatkan untuk kedua cat marine memenuhi standard. prosentase cat yang terkelupas untuk bagian top side hasilnya lebih baik cat Jotun yaitu 18,33%, untuk bagian deck hasilnya lebih baik cat International dengan hasil prosentase 0%, dan dibagian bottom hasilnya lebih baik cat International dengan prosentase 10%. Kata kunci: blasting, cat International, cat Jotun, pull-off test. ABSTRACT Coating of paint is a layer of protection that protects a metal surface of the access environment by way of forming a thin layer above the surface of the metal. There are many different brands of paint with a berbedadan value of the power specification of each brand of paint is different. So that the good results obtained the required staining paint brand with best quality. As for the methodology used in this study that is done the process of sand blasting process carried out before painting. After the painting was completed testing pull-off test for knowing the adhesive strength on both marine paint brand. Strength test result obtained for both marine paint standard. percentage paint chipped to the top side of the Jotun paint better results i.e. 18.33%, for the result better deck paint International with results of 0%, and the percentage of the bottom result better paint International with a percentage of 10%.
