Kata Kuci : Bonding System and Insulation, Lightning Protection System, Metode Sudut Proteksi, Simulasi Threat Zone, Storage Tank ABSTRACT PT. TPPI Tuban is a petrochemical company and refinery which producing petroleum and aromatics products among others Benzene, Toluene, Xylene (BTX), where located in Tuban, East Java. Potential fire and explosion hazards can occur in the tank, one of the causes is by a lightning strike. Steppimg electrical current occurs because the current distribution system to the grounding less than the maximum. This research is conducted by evaluation method based on regulation and reality condition of lightning strain protection field, and by simulating the impact of explosion on tank using ALOHA software. Regulation SNI 03-7015-2004, catalog ERITECH 1000 and API 545 are used as evaluation standards for this research. The result of the explosion area analysis was obtained by red zone explosion radius 1.87 km, orange zone 2.65 km and 4.04 km of yellow zone from the reformate tank. The result of evaluation on SNI 03-7015-2004 states the level IV, which requires the installation of external lightning protection system in each tank. It was found optimally for the addition of down conductor and air terminal to the external SPP design of one air terminal and down conductor for each tank, with height of three meters from the tank roof surface, based on the ERITECH 1000 product catalog. The results of the API 545 based evaluation of the reformate tanks stated that the absence of a system Lightning protection in the tank with the installation of bonding system and insulation. Therefore, the installation of 51 shunt bonding systems and five bypass conductor, and insulation installation on conductive components other than shunt and bypass condcutor in reformate tanks need to be done.
