DESIGN OF LOCAL EXHAUST VENTILATION SYSTEM AND THE ANALYSIS OF WORKERS' CHARACTERISTIC DUE TO BREATH HAMPERING AT NPK FUSED GRANULATION PLANT OF PT.X

Abstrak

PT. X merupakan perusahaan manufaktur berbasis bahan baku kimia dengan produksi pupuk urea dan ammonia. Pabrik NPK Fused Granulation PT. X memiliki permasalahan higiene yang belum terselesaikan, permasalahan higiene tersebut adalah paparan debu partikulat. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kualitas udara ambien (debu partikulat), hubungan karakteristik pekerja terhadap keluhan gangguan saluran pernapasan, perencanaan local exhaust ventilation system, dan merekomendasikan pengendalian secara administratif dan APD. Metode pengukuran kuantitas dan ukuran debu partikulat adalah High Volume Air Sampler dan SEM. Metode hubungan karakteristik kerja dengan keluhan gangguan saluran pernapasan digunakan metode Crosstabulation dengan Chi Square untuk mengetahui hubungan antara variabel satu sama lain dan Contingency Coefficient untuk mengetahui tingkat hubungan. Perencanaan local exhaust ventilation system menggunakan hood jenis slot dan air cleaner jenis venturi scrubber dan cyclone separator. Hasil penelitian ini, kuantitas debu partikulat gudang bahan baku sebesar 29,267 mg/m3 (diatas NAB) dan ukuran terkecil debu partikulat Control Room sebesar 3,08 ? 19,48 ?m. Hasil uji hubungan Chi Square dan Contingency Coefficient, hubungan yang paling berpengaruh adalah hubungan kebiasaan merokok dengan keluhan gangguan saluran pernapasan (p = 0,000; CC = 0,306) dan hubungan kebiasaan penggunaan APD respirator dengan keluhan gangguan saluran pernapasan (p = 0,000; CC = 0,445). Hasil perencanaan local exhaust ventilation system didapatkan dimensi hood entrance 0,9 m x 0,03 m; pipa ducting (galvanized iron) sepanjang 90,28 m; blower dengan pressure drop 3.277,06 Pascal, debit udara yang dihisap 27.404,56 m3/jam, daya 31,18 Kw (efisiensi 80%); dan pompa air dengan debit air 7,83 m3/jam dan daya 192,56 Watt (efisiensi 80%). Berdasarkan pembandingan produk blower didapatkan merk Keller Luft Technick MKR-063 dengan daya 35 Kw dengan putaran 1.400 RPM dan pompa air merk Lowara DN 110 dengan daya 0,6 Kw dengan putaran 2.800 RPM. Rekomendasi pengendalian administratif dan APD adalah medical check up dengan pengukuran kesehatan pekerja dengan menggunakan spirometri dan sosialisasi bahaya merokok, serta sosialisasi APD respirator.


Abstract

PT. X is a manufacturing company based on chemical raw materials with produced urea fertilizer and ammonia. Fused NPK granulation plant PT. X has hygiene issues unresolved. One of the hygiene issues is exposure to dust particulates. The purpose of this research is to determine the quality of ambient air (dust particulates), knowing relation betwwen the characteristics of labor and complaint about respiratory disorders, designing of local exhaust ventilation system and to recommend administrative control and PPE. Method of measuring the quantity and size of dust particulate were High Volume Air Sampler and SEM. Related method of working characteristic with complaints of respiratory disorders were used Chi Square and Cross tabulation method to determine the relationship between variables with each other and Contingency Coefficient to determine the level of relationship. Design of local exhaust ventilation system air use hood type of slot and air cleaner type of venture scrubber and cyclone separator. The results of this research were obtained high quantity of dust particulates in the raw materials warehouse of 29.267 mg/m3 (above TLV) and for the quality obtained for the smallest size in the Control Room at 3,08 - 19,48 ?m. Test result obtained relations Chi Square and Contingency Coefficient, that the most influential relationship is the relationship of smoking with respiratory complaints offending (p = 0,000; CC = 0,306) and relationship between the habbits to use PPE respirator and respiratory disorders complaints (p = 0,000 ; CC = 0,445). The design of local exhaust ventilation system obtained hood entrance dimension 0,9 x 0,03 m; ducting pipes (galvanized iron) which length 90,28 m; blower which pressure drop at 3.277,06 Pascal, total air flowrate 27,404.56 m3/hr, power at 31,18 Kw (efficiency 80%); and flowrate of water pump for venturi scrubber 7.83 m3/hr which power 192,56 Watt (efficiency 80%).Based on comparation of blower product which was sold in market with Keller Luft Technick MKR-063 brands found 35 Kw power blower and1400 RPM an Lowara pumps brand DN 110 series with power 0,6 Kw and 2800 RPM. Recommendation of administrative control and PPE are routine medical check up using spirometry test and to socialize the hazard of smoking habit and using respirator.
