Abstrak

Aluminium 5083 mengandung magnesium, mangan, dan kromium sebagai paduan elemen utama yang digunakan pada pembuatan kapal boat karena memiliki sifat mekanik yang baik, tetapi logam ini mempunyai weldability yang relatif rendah dan sambungan las rentan terhadap kegagalan (failur) akibat gaya ? gaya yang bekerja pada struktur tersebut. Salah satu upaya untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut dengan pemilihan filler metal yang tepat dan mematuhi prosedur pengelasan yang benar. Material yang digunakan adalah plate aluminium 5083 tebal 4 mm, sebanyak 3 spesimen. Proses pengelasan menggunakan TIG dengan sumber tenaga arus AC dan filler metal yang digunakan sebagai perbandingan yaitu ER 4043, ER 5356,


Abstract

Aluminium 5083 contains magnesium, manganese, and chromium as the main element alloys used in the manufacture of the boat because it has good mechanical properties, but this metal has a relatively low weldability and weld joints are prone to failure due to a force - the force acting on such structures. One of the efforts to resolve the issue with the selection of the proper filler metal and adhere to the correct welding procedure. The material used is aluminum 5083 plate thickness of 4 mm, a total of 3 specimens. TIG welding process using AC current power source and filler metal is used as a comparison that is ER 4043, ER 5356, and ER 5556 with the welding process and equal treatment. Performed three different welding filler metal was on each connection. Of the existing literature, conducted testing of tensile and bend test. From the results of research conducted, the results of tensile testing showed that the weld joint using a filler metal that ER 4043, ER 5356 and ER 5556 are the result of faults in the area of the weld metal. From these test results, can be said of all the connection plates do not meet the standard tensile strength. From the bending test results, showing that all specimens of connection that uses filler metal plate ER 4043 and ER 5356 experienced reject criteria and only specimen of connection that uses a filler metal plate ER 5556 which has accept criteria.
