Abstract

Worship is an obligation for every Muslim, including those with disabilities. Despite their limitations, individuals with disabilities are still required to perform ablution according to their abilities before praying. Ablution is one of the essential rituals in Muslim worship; however, individuals with disabilities often face challenges in performing it independently. This study aims to design a practical and ergonomic ablution aid using the Ulrich method. This approach involves several stages, including identifying user needs, developing concepts, selecting designs, and manufacturing the tool. In the initial stage, data collection was carried out through interviews and observations of individuals with foot disabilities. This process helped identify primary needs such as ease of access, safety, and comfort. The tool was designed with consideration for the users’ body dimensions, and trials were conducted to ensure safety and ergonomic suitability. The results show that the ablution aid is easy to use and enhances the independence of individuals with foot disabilities in performing ablution. Based on these findings, the Ulrich method is considered effective in producing product designs that meet user needs, and this tool has the potential to improve facilities in places of worship.
