Abstract

ABSTRAK Kemajuan dalam dunia perkapalan kini semakin pesat. Dalam hal ini, owner kapal juga memiliki berbagai variasi permintaan dalam pengujian material untuk mendeteksi cacat. Sering kali menjumpai owner kapal yang meminta pengujian cacat material tanpa menghilangkan cat. Cacat tersebut dapat dideteksi dengan menggunakan ultrasonic test tanpa harus menghilangkan cat. Tugas akhir ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh ketebalan cat tersebut terhadap pendeteksian kedalaman cacat dengan metode ultrasonic test pada material baja. Pada spesimen uji diberikan beberapa variasi ketebalan coating yaitu sebanyak 0 spray, 5 spray, 15 spray, dan 25 spray dimana sebelum diberikan variasi ketebalan coating, spesimen terlebih dahulu diberikan cacat buatan dengan diameter tetap yaitu 5 mm. Setelah itu spesimen dilakukan pemeriksaan dengan ultrasonic test (UT). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh ketebalan coating terhadap pendeteksian kedalaman cacat, dimana kemampuan pembacaan UT terhadap kedalaman cacat pada spesimen dengan ketebalan coating 0 spray rata – rata sebesar 100%, 5 spray sebesar 97.95%, 15 spray sebesar 97.05%, dan 25 spray sebesar 94.97%. Hal ini disebabkan oleh adanya pelemahan gelombang ultrasonik (atenuasi) pada saat gelombang ultrasonik melewati batas permukaan antara coating dengan pelat baja. Sebagian energi gelombang ultrasonik juga akan hilang saat gelombang melewati interfaces material. In this case, owner of the ship also has a variety of demand in testing material to detect defects. Often times to meet owner of the ship for testing defective materials without removing paint. Disabled can be detected by using ultrasonic a test without having to remove the paint. The task of the end of this aims to analyze the influence of a thickness of such paint on the detection of defects with the method of ultrasonic a test on material steel. In a test given some variation of a thickness of coating which is about 0 spray, spray, 15 spray, and 25 spray where before given variations of a thickness of coatings, specimens first be given disability made in diameter still 5 mm. After that the specimen carried out checks with ultrasonic a test (UT). The result of this research shows that there is the influence of a thickness of coating on the detection of disabilities, where the ability of the reading of the ut to a depth of defects in the specimen with a thickness of coating services spray on – the ground amounting to 100 %, 5 spray of 97.95 %, 15 spray of 97.05 %, and 25 spray of 94.97 %. It is caused by the weakening of the waves of ultrasound (atenuation) at the time of ultrasonic through the surface between the coating with a steel plate.
