Abstract

Kata Kunci : A36 , Pengelasan GMAW & FCAW, Tensile Test, Bending Test ABSTRACT The quality result of the welding in addition to depending on the welding his own and also depends on the preparations before the implementation of the welding, because the welding is the process of switching between two pieces of mteal or more with the use of heat energy. In this study welding process that in use GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding) it is very closely to do with the follow of electricity, toughness, defect, as well as cracks in general have leverage that is fatal to the safety of construction that is. This study aims to know the nature of the mechanical of welding GMAW and FCAW and the position of welding process with 1G and polarity DC (+). The material in use a low carbon steel A36 with thickness 10 mm. Test is carried out with the Destructive Test (DT) with the method of tensile test and bending test. The tensile test showed the average value of the tensile strength the most high in the process of welding FCAW with the value of 425,31 Mpa, while in the process of welding GMAW the value of an average of 414,18 Mpa, and on testing is the fault all specimen tests on the base metal, while in bending test the process of welding GMAW and FCAW in the face bend there is not defect, while at the root bend there are defect only in the process of welding GMAW with size of defect 1,9 and 1,8 mm and the process of welding FCAW there is no defects. From the speciment test, the welding process of GMAW and FCAW be succesful because is still in acceptance criteria of each test. Only on the FCAW welding process that results are better.
