Abstract

ABSTRAK Magnetic Particle testmerupakan salah satu jenis NDT (Non Destructive Test) yang relatif mudah dan cepat pelaksanaannya,pengujian ini merupakan metode yang paling tepat untuk menentukan adanya cacat permukaan (surface) dan di bawah permukaan (subsurface) dari bahan ferromagnetic. Pengujian ini dilakukan pada baja karbon A36 dengancacat buatan pada material tersebut,dimana perlakuan pengujian tetap sama seperti prosedur pengujian magnetik, hanya saja proses pengujian dilakukan dengan tiga kekasaran yang berbeda. Pertama menggunakan batu gerinda kasar, yang kedua menggunakan batu gerinda potong, yang ketiga menggunakan batu gerinda halus. Dari hasil pengujian magnetic particleyang telah dilakukan diperoleh kesimpulan semakin halus proses finishing permukaanbenda uji maka semakin jelas cacatnya, begitu juga sebaliknya semakin kasar proses finishing benda uji maka cacatnya terlihat kurang jelas. Dalam pengujian kedua semakin dekat jarak antar kutub yoke maka semakin jelas cacatnya, sebaliknya jika jarak antar kutub yoke semakin panjang maka cacat nya terlihat samar / kurang jelas. Dalam pengujian ke tiga yoke ac mendeteksi cacat dengan baik daripada yoke permanen. . Kata kunci: uji tanpa merusak, uji magnetic particle, tingkat kekasaran, benda uji. ABSTRACT Magnetic Particle Test is one type of NDT (Non Destructive Test) is relatively easy and fast implementation. this test is the most method for determine the presence of defects on the sureface and subsureface for ferromagnetic materials. This test has been applied on A36 carbon steel that had been given an artificial discontinuity, where this treatment of the test is as same as the magnetic test procedure, it’s just this test had been applied within there kinds of roughness. For the first variety is using rough grinding, for the second variety is using cutting grinding, for the third variety is using soft grinding. The first result of the magnetic particle test shows that, the more softly the finishing process the more clearly the discontinuity is. And also, the more roughly the finishing process, the more opaquely the discontinuity is. In the second test the closer the distance between the poles yoke it is increasingly apparent disability, conversely, if the distance between the poles the longer the yoke of his disability looks vague / unclear. In testing to detect defects three ac yoke better than a permanent yoke. Keywords: Non destructive test, magnetic particle test, roughness, specimens.
